BIO:Ash King is a blues & roots singer-songwriter from the Yarra Valley in Victoria.
With his deep baritone voice and funky guitar work, Ash balances soulful feel and
raw unbridled energy. Think John Butler meets Johnny Cash at a BBQ and you’re
not far off.
As a solo acoustic artist and frontman of blues-rock band Smoke Stack Rhino, Ash
has taken his high-energy live show around Australia, often having too much fun
dancing across the stage with his guitar that he forgets to sing the next verse.
His original songs offer a refreshingly honest take on the familiar themes of love and
lust, passion and struggle, change and the wider world. ‘I have this saying that you
don’t write the song, the song writes to you,’ Ash says. ‘If you imagine holding up a
mirror to your life and letting the reflection paint the words, that’s how I write
music.’
Ash is an engaging storyteller, an electric performer, and a fresh new voice in
Australian blues & roots.
