Event description

Becoming a top fighter takes time, unless you're a natural-born kung-fu genius, and they're 1 in a million.

Did you ever dream of becoming a Kung Fu master? Join the Asian Cinema Collective for a special screening of Kung Fu Hustle (2004) and live out your martial arts dreams on 14 May.

"like Jackie Chan and Buster Keaton meet Quentin Tarantino and Bugs Bunny” - Robert Ebert

After an unfortunate childhood incident, Sing (Stephen Chow) decides to follow a path to become a villain. Years later, Sing and his friend, Bone, pretend to be members of the notorious Axe Gang, led by the ruthless Brother Sum. High kicks and hi-jinks ensue as they are quickly exposed and must fight for survival against the Axe Gang, kung fu masters and assassins in the run-down Pigsty Alley.

Following the international success of Shaolin Soccer (2001), and other martial arts films such as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000) and Hero (2002) at the time, Stephen Chow took on a new global audience with Kung Fu Hustle (2004). Written, produced, directed and starring Stephen Chow alongside a number of other Hong Kong legends, Kung Fu Hustle combines the nostalgia of classic martial arts films with Western imaginations of slapstick comedic comedy.
