Join the Asian Cinema Collective for a special encore screening of Tampopo (1985) at Eclipse Cinema!

About the film

It has the irresistible freshness of a recipe that many have tried to copy and none have matched: a barbed, sprawling, scintillating vision of a society happily in thrall to its taste buds - Justin Chang, Los Angeles Times

Beloved by many cinema fans, Juzu Itami’s Tampopo (1985) is a delicious ode to food, love and of course, Ramen. An homage to western films of the time, Tampopo (1985) follows the story of a widow running a failing ramen business in Tokyo. When two truck drivers stop at the restaurant for a late night feed, they take pity on her lack of skills but appreciate her passion and take it upon themselves to help her craft the perfect bowl of ramen. Alongside this story is a series of vignettes that explore how we engage with, appreciate and celebrate food in restaurants, supermarket stores and even the bedroom.
