From iconic roles in Saving Face and The Last Emperor, to her most recent films Montreal, My Beautiful this November we are so excited to dive into Joan’s filmography and celebrate her incredible career!

About the Film

We follow the tumultuous life of Pu Yi, the last emperor of China, from his coronation as a toddler in the Forbidden City - where, long after his forced abdication in 1912, a new English tutor opens his mind to the world beyond its walls - to his reinvention as Japan's puppet emperor of Manchukuo, and finally his years as a prisoner of the new People's Republic.

Chen stars as Wanrong, Pu Yi's wife, in the role that brought her international acclaim after her early stardom in China.
