Event description

Autumn is a great time to forage edible mushrooms, but you need to know how to identify mushrooms correctly BEFORE consuming them!

Learn how to safely and effectively identify fungi found in the wild with ideas for growing edible mushrooms in a food forest setting. Discussion on key points when identifying fungi if planning to forage.

Q&A time where you can ask a fungi-related burning question. This may also include fungi ID.

Optional: bring a photo of a mushroom or fungi you would like to identify.

*PLEASE NOTE: It takes two weeks to prepare a kit for sale - orders made by 15 March can be picked up on the day of the workshop. Later orders can be picked up from EcoMatters store two weeks after the workshop date.

ABOUT
Christopher Smith, aka The Mushroom Smith, started in 2017 selling small Phoenix Oyster grow kits at farmers markets. 
After getting his Masters in Biology at Auckland University he worked at Manaaki Whenua - Landcare Research as a technician in the Mycology team. 
His current mahi is focused on education in the community, growing edible mushrooms and researching our amazing native harore.
