Ask a Scientist invites participants to explore a fascinating science topic and engage in a live Q&A session with the experts. Hudson River Park is teaming up with Secret Science Club to offer this event in the Pier 57 Discovery Tank.

Directions: The Discovery Tank is located at the back of Hudson River Park's Pier 57. Enter Pier 57 at West 15th Street and walk through the market to the back of the building. Enter the classroom through the double doors.
This months speakers:
Dr. Judith S. Weis is a Professor Emerita of Biological Sciences at Rutgers University, Newark. Her research focuses mostly on estuarine ecology and ecotoxicology, and she has published over 300 scientific papers, technical books, and books for the general public on salt marshes, fish, crabs, and marine pollution. She was an AAAS Science Policy Fellow with the U.S Senate, and a Fulbright Senior Specialist in Indonesia. She has been on advisory committees for EPA and NOAA and chaired the Science Advisory Board of the NJ Department of Environmental Protection. She served on the governing boards of the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry and the American Institute of Biological Sciences, of which she was the President in 2001.
Chris Bowser is the Education Coordinator for the NYSDEC Hudson River Estuary Program and the Hudson River National Estuarine Research Reserve, in partnership with the Water Resource Institute of Cornell University. Chris’s current work with the NYSDEC focuses on environmental education and citizen science along the Hudson River. Bowser’s other experiences include serving as reforestation volunteer with the Peace Corps in West Africa, working as education director for the Sloop Clearwater, and teaching environmental science at Marist University.
