You Asked, We Listened – ASSA Swimposium is coming to Brisbane, Qld.

For the past two years, Educators Day at the ASSA Conference has been a standout event for swim school professionals. Now, we’re taking it on the road and giving it a fresh new name—welcome to Swimposium.
Designed by swim schools, for swim schoolsSwimposium is a full-day event packed with practical learning, industry insights, and professional development to help you and your team deliver even better lessons and teach more people to swim.

We know how important convenient, cost-effective ongoing training is—that’s why we’re bringing this must-attend event to Canberra, Brisbane, Sydney, Perth, Adelaide, Auckland, and Melbourne. No need for flights, extra accommodation, or multiple days away from your swim school—just a focused, high-impact day of learning that fits your schedule.

  • Different strokes for different folks – Lyn & Ruth from Aquatic Mentors
    • Every swimmer is different, and Lyn O’Brien will share how to adapt strokes to meet individual needs. This session is all about adjusting techniques to improve comfort, efficiency, and performance for swimmers of all backgrounds.
  • Welcoming New Australians to the Poolside
    • Sarah Scarce will explore how to better engage with and support new Australians in your swim school. She’ll discuss cultural differences, communication strategies, and practical steps to create a more inclusive environment for all.
  • Lunch
    • A well-earned break to recharge and connect with fellow swim teachers.
  • Understanding the Different Types of Learners – How to handle neurodiverse children in a swimming class – Kim Rigby
    • Kim Rigby will guide you through the most effective ways to teach neurodiverse children in the pool. Learn how to tailor your approach to different learning styles and provide a supportive environment for every child to thrive.
  • Building Skills and Dreams – The Teacher’s Impact on Competitive Pathways
    • Paulo Roberto Barroso will highlight the significant role teachers play in shaping competitive swimmers. This session will focus on how your influence in the early stages can make a lasting impact on a swimmer’s journey, from skill development to building the mindset needed to succeed at higher levels.
  • Laugh, Learn, Repeat:  retention through FUN – Barbara Smith
    • It’s time to explore tools for creating excited, engaged swimmers who can’t wait to jump in the pool, and parents who are fully invested in their child’s journey every step of the way! Together, we’ll dive into how to turn every lesson into an unmissable adventure – for parents, children, and instructors alike.
  • Bringing it All Together – Lessons for the Day
    • Reflect on key takeaways and how to apply them back in your pool.
