As part of UTS Tech Festival 2026 and held on the Civil and Environmental Engineering Showcase Day, this focused seminar and panel brings together leaders from Transport for New South Wales, IPWEA and UTS to examine how AI, asset intelligence and digital systems are reshaping engineering practice across the infrastructure lifecycle.

The session will begin with an industry presentation on Asset AI in practice featuring Joshua Devitt, Chief Engineer, IPWEA, together with Megan Finnie, from Fulton Hogan, and Brooke Knox and Houman Hatamian from Transport for New South Wales. The presentation will explore how Asset AI is being applied in infrastructure and asset management, and what this means for engineering decision-making, capability development and future practice.

This will be followed by a panel discussion that extends the conversation into the broader theme of engineering intelligence. Bringing together Distinguished Professor Fang Chen, Richard Morrison, and Associate Professor Julie Jupp, the panel will explore the implications of AI for infrastructure, leadership and the future of engineering practice. Held on International Women in Engineering Day, the event will also recognise women’s leadership in this changing landscape and connect the Women in Engineering theme directly to the emerging demands of an AI-enabled profession.

The event serves as an intellectual and industry-facing anchor for the broader student program, linking current industry practice with engineering research, student capability and the future of the profession.
