Due to popular demand our Public Open Night is back for 2026!

Join us for an unforgettable evening on the 27th June for the AST Open Night!

Explore the wonders of the night sky and peer through the society's telescopes to see star clusters, nebulae, and galaxies. This fun and exciting event is perfect for astronomy enthusiasts and curious minds alike. Tickets are limited, so be sure to secure yours quickly! The cost of entry is a $10 donation per adult and $5 per child (plus processing fee). Children under 6 years old are free.

The night will also include demonstrations by REAST (Radio and Electronics Association of Southern Tasmania), and attendees will be able to chat with researchers from the University of Tasmania and representatives from the Australian Space Agency.

Grab a hot drink and bite to eat from the onsite food van courtesy of Bean and Leaf.

Don't miss the opportunity to learn more about radio astronomy with a visit to the Grote Reber Museum, celebrating one of the pioneers of the field.

Enter our exciting raffle for your chance to win! First prize is a Celestron StarSense Explorer RRP $529.
