Astronomy in the Parklands - Science Week 2024
Event description
Pack your picnic, torch and astronomical excitement for an evening under the stars in Western Sydney Parklands.
Under the quiet and stillness of the evening sky, you will have an opportunity to:
- View the night sky through a telescope
- Watch the layers of the evening sky develop on an iPad
- Explore projections taken from a telescope
Join us for a beautiful night of science, nature and exploration in collaboration with Macarthur Astronomical Society
PYO picnic blankets or seats (you may like to bring a torch with a red filter or red cellophane for better visibility at night)
Entry from 5pm
Stargazing from 5.30pm
Accessibility: please note that this program is accessible for less mobile visitors.
Meeting point: The Dairy Picnic Ground, Western Sydney Parklands.
Stargazing is weather permitting. We reserve the right to cancel the event in case of dangerous weather or the weather conditions are not favourable for successful viewing. In these circumstances a refund will be offered. Please refer to our full terms and conditions for more information.
Your responsibilities if you feel unwell
I understand that it is my responsibility to ensure that all attendees associated with this booking do not attend if:
- We/I show any COVID-19, infectious disease or virus symptoms or feel unwell
- We/I have had a fever, diarrhoea or vomiting within 12 hours or at the time of the program
- We/I have been asked to self-isolate
- We/I have had a positive COVID-19 test result and continue to have symptoms.
If any of the above apply to you or any attendee associated with this booking, we request that you do not attend this program. In this instance, please contact us via email on education@gsp.nsw.gov.au to arrange for a refund of your ticket.
