Join an Astrophysicist for a guided Astronomy night in the Shire.

Using an astronomy laser pointer, we will trace constellations across the sky, identify bright stars, and explore the science and stories behind the night sky. This is a beginner-friendly astronomy session suitable for families, curious adults, and anyone who has ever looked up and wondered what they were seeing.

Topics we will cover:

Brightest stars in the night sky
Lifecycle of stars, colours of stars and their connection with life on earth.
Exploding Stars, Supernovae
Constellation stories.
Stellar Navigation using the Southern Cross (How ancient people navigated using the stars.
Planets, Zodiacs and Ecliptic
Blackholes (Einsteins General Relativity and the science behind Interstellar)

Followed by Telescope viewing to see Planets, Stars, Clusters, Moon and any other objects of your choice!

In case of bad weather: we will reschedule to another night. Since weather changes quite fast, the call will be made on the day at 12pm and you will be informed by 1pm if the event is going ahead.
