ATELIER COLLARTS: COLLCEPT
Description
Sustainable fashion doesn't have to sit quietly in the background. ATELIER COLLARTS: COLLCEPT puts it centre stage.
Presented as part of Melbourne Fashion Week 2026's Independent Program, COLLCEPT is a curated sustainable fashion concept store, exhibition and live atelier program. Showcasing work by Collarts Fashion students, alumni and staff, it combines retail, workshops, gallery exhibition and circular fashion services across two days at Fractal Gallery, Docklands.
Programming includes an opening night launch, film screenings, designer retail activations, and community mending and upcycling workshops continuing the "Healing Stitch" series developed during Fashion Revolution Week. It's a new model for sustainable fashion retail: one built on craftsmanship, participation, education and circular design practice.
Retail trading is open to the public for free on Saturday, no workshop ticket required.

ATELIER COLLARTS: COLLCEPT Opening Night
Kick things off with an evening of short form film screenings exploring sustainability, circularity and inclusive design, followed by a facilitated industry panel discussion. Stick around for free drinks, grazing plates and open retail, plus the chance to network with designers, industry and community over a relaxed evening at Fractal Gallery.
Healing Stitch Mending Workshop
Join Callum Amor, Collarts 2026 graduate and founder of Amend Amor (@Amend_Amor) for a hands on visible mending workshop. Learn how small repairs can become a form of storytelling, giving damaged garments a new life rather than the bin. Participants can bring a garment from home or work from a rack of ELK and Thread Together's donated and deadstock clothing.
Proudly sponsored by ELK & Thread Together.
Creative Wearable Workshop
One thrifted men's shirt. One sewing machine. Zero sewing experience required. Transform it into a unique, wearable top you'll actually want to wear. Led by Collarts Fashion & Sustainability faculty, all machines, sewing supplies, and Thread Together donated shirts are provided. Just bring an open mind, and walk away with a one of a kind piece for your fashion week festivities.
Proudly sponsored by Thread Together.
Please note that professional photography and videography will be taken throughout ATELIER COLLARTS: COLLCEPT (23–24 October 2026, Fractal Gallery, Docklands), and may be used across Collarts' marketing, social media, and press channels.
If you would prefer not to be photographed or filmed, please let a member of our team know in advance by emailing fashion@collarts.edu.au, or speak to a staff member on the day.
