Atomic Choir: Moth Night
Event description
The Learning by Doing and Atomic Choir teams proudly present Atomic Choir: Moth Night!
Featuring talks from ecologists Dr Fran Van Den Berg and Dr Caitlyn Forster
Join us for a magical evening where science and sound come together to celebrate the hidden beauty of the night!
“Creepy crawlies” and “spooky” animals are often misunderstood. But in fact, they all play vital roles in keeping our ecosystems healthy. Alongside our ever-charismatic moths, we’ll shine a light on other fascinating nocturnal species — ghost bats, frogs, spiders, and owls!
Come along to discover the not-so-spooky side of Australia’s nocturnal wildlife, and help us turn mystery into music with the Atomic Choir.
ITINERARY
Our evening will start with the Atomic Choir. We’ll be creating a spontaneous soundtrack to science as our invited experts tell us more about moths, spiders, and other creatures.
Once the sun goes down, we’ll move outside to inspect moth traps and find other local wildlife. Our expert guides will help you locate and identify our precious wildlife, and prove once and for all that crawlies aren’t creepy...they’re fantastic!
This event is for anyone interested in learning new things and making sounds as part of a group. No musical training is necessary.
Moth Night is part of the Great Southern BioBlitz, a global citizen science event.
