2026 Australian Tidy Towns Awards

Join us from 15 - 17 May 2026 for the 2026 Keep Australia Beautiful Australian Tidy Town Awards, proudly hosted by our 2025 national Tidy Towns winner - Launceston.

Set at the meeting point of the North Esk, South Esk and Tamar Rivers, Launceston is a vibrant, walkable city known for its rich heritage, creative community and outstanding food and wine. At its heart is the iconic Cataract Gorge, a spectacular natural landmark and much-loved gathering place.

This year’s Awards will celebrate the achievements of our state finalists, share inspiration from across the country, and recognise the communities leading the way in environmental stewardship and local pride.

Day 1 - Friday, 15 May 2026

• 1730 - 1930: Registration and Welcome Dinner
  Ease into the weekend with a relaxed welcome dinner in one of Launceston’s favourite heritage pubs. This informal gathering is a great opportunity to connect with fellow attendees ahead of the Awards program.
  Please note: attendees are responsible for their own meals and drinks.
  

Day 2 - Saturday, 16 May 2026

• 0830 - 1000: Visit Launceston’s Harvest Market
  Start your morning at the award-winning Harvest Market, a vibrant community farmers’ market showcasing Tasmania’s best local produce. Enjoy breakfast at your own pace while experiencing Launnie’s celebrated paddock-to-plate culture.

• 1000 - 1230: Finalist Case Study Presentations
  Hear from each State Finalist as they share some of the inspiring initiatives that helped them secure their state title.
  Light refreshments will be provided.

• 1230 - 1400: Lunch at your Leisure
  Explore the vibrant streets of Launceston, savour the creativity of it’s award winning restaurants and cafes, and experience for yourself why UNESCO recognised it as a City of Gastronomy.

• 1400 - 1600: Cataract Gorge Experience
  Discover the iconic Cataract Gorge - Launceston’s natural heart and a place of deep cultural, geological and historical significance. This guided experience will take you beyond the usual tourist tracks, revealing ancient landscapes, Aboriginal heritage, and colourful stories from Launceston’s past, including its famous chairlift, vibrant picnic grounds and resident peacocks.

• 1800 - 2200: Australian Tidy Towns Awards Dinner
  The signature event of the weekend. Celebrate the remarkable achievements of communities from across Australia as we announce the 2026 Category Winners and the prestigious Overall Australian Tidy Towns Award.

Day 3 - Sunday 17 May 2026

• 0800 - 0900: Farewell Breakfast
  A final chance to catch up with friends, old and new, before the weekend concludes.
  Gluten free and vegetarian/vegan options are available for those advised of dietary requirements.
