Attachment theory examines the impact of early emotional connections between infants and caregivers on lifelong behavior and relationships. It emphasises the significance of caregiver responsiveness in shaping a child's sense of security, self-esteem, and ability to form stable adult relationships. 

In this workshop, you'll gain a deeper understanding of attachment theory and learn to apply its principles to assist your clients in cultivating healthier, more secure relationships. We'll explore how you can guide your clients through their personal journey using the lens of attachment theory, empowering you to recognise and address attachment wounds effectively. By fostering safety, we create an environment where curiosity, exploration, and growth thrive.

The learning outcomes of this session are:

  • Gaining understanding of the development of Attachment Theory and the four attachment styles: Secure, Anxious, Avoidant, and Disorganised
  • Identifying Attachment Styles in your clients: Understanding Behaviors and Patterns
  • Understand the impact of different attachment styles on adult relationships including attachment hunger 
  • Gaining insight in the important role of interpersonal neurobiology and the vital need for secure attachments to process and regulate emotions 
  • Practical strategies for healing attachment wounds and supporting your clients to move towards a more secure attachment style
  • Understanding the value of corrective experiences in developing a secure attachment (which can happen throughout life)

The content of the webinar will draw from Wilmé’s extensive experience and training in the fields of Medicine, Psychology, Interpersonal Neurobiology, Somatic Experiencing and Attachment and Internal Family Systems Informed EMDR.

Trained as a Medical Doctor, Clinical Psychologist, and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, Wilmē has over 35 years of experience. Her strengths lie in her ability to keenly observe, listen, and learn from clients, utilising her extensive knowledge, expertise, skills, and intuition to foster personal growth. Her goal is to empower clients to recognise and comprehend their behaviour patterns, effectively heal from past traumas, acquire user-friendly skills, re-establish connections with others, and overcome obstacles. Wilme has a deep passion for understanding human behaviour and optimising strengths, expressing a genuine love for her work. Her approach is particularly beneficial for individuals seeking to explore, comprehend, heal, and develop positive patterns, and for couples aiming to strengthen their bond by addressing negative patterns, and individuals or groups in various relationship contexts.
