The Canadian short films in this collection are full of youthful vigour and energy. The selection offers thoughtful observations about our world and our connections to each other. Rich cinematic symbolism is employed to great effect, demonstrating the power of the current generation of filmmakers and particularly documentary makers in Canada today. Join us for an inspiring journey as we meet Canadians and discover the magic in their lives.
This collection of short films was curated in collaboration with Jason Todd of Tënk Canada, and is presented in partnership with the High Commission of Canada.
The six Canadian short films are:
- Summer Night, a skater documentary directed by Virgile Ratelle
- Oasis, a documentary directed by Justine Martin
- The Pioneers, an animation directed by Simon Cottee
- The Punk of Natashquan, a documentary directed by Nicolas Lachapelle
- Hello Stranger, a documentary directed by Amélie Hardy
- Pidikwe (Rumble), an indigenous dance film directed by Caroline Monnet
