Event description

Join us to plant 2,000 native trees.

Trees That Count and Honda New Zealand will be partnering with Conservation Volunteers New Zealand (CVNZ) to plant native trees on this site.

Join us at Pearson's Farm on the Papakura Stream Restoration Project, a catchment wide programme that will restore and protect this important waterway and the habitat for the diverse species that call this area home. Pearson's  Farm is a non-profit farm owned by NZ Young Farmers with the aim of connecting inner city kids to farming and teaching them where their food comes from. This year, CVNZ will be planting 16,000 along the riparian margins of a tributary that runs into the Papakura Stream.

The planting area is an easy, mostly flat, five-minute walk from the carpark and toilet. The planting site is sloped and we will be planting alongside a shallow stream. There will be portaloos on site located between the planting site and carpark.

Parking is very limited so please carpool where possible. Parking is located just inside the main entrance to the farm at 1 Ara-Kotinga Road in Whitford. The entrance is easy to miss so please keep an eye out for the flags by the roadside.

CVNZ will provide all tools and equipment needed but if you have your own spade or gloves please bring along. It is also required to wear long pants and sleeves to protect you from scratchy and irritating plants. Please also wear sturdy footwear (hiking or work boots are great) plus a hat and rain jacket. We will provide a sausage sizzle after the event and have drinking water on site but please bring a reusable water bottle and any snacks you might like.
