Auckland Medical Revue 2024: Mean Docs
Event description
Auckland Medical Revue is a theatrical production directed and performed by a large and diverse group of medical students from the University of Auckland to raise money and awareness for charities in Aotearoa, New Zealand. This year’s show is based on the iconic movie and Broadway hit Mean Girls, and we are raising money for the Cancer Society. The Cancer Society is committed to assisting cancer patients in managing the multifaceted impacts the disease can have on their lives
THE SHOW
Our take on Mean Girls follows Cady Heron, a new medical student who infiltrates the popular group of bullies known as The Plastics. This show explores interprofessional conflict and bullying within the healthcare workforce, which undermine the confidence and safety of all team members. Just as the original Mean Girls challenges high school bullying and the network of misogyny driving the system, we aim to use our Mean Docs performance to challenge bullying in healthcare and the structural issues that cause it whilst fundraising for an outstanding cause.
THE CHARITY
Cancer Society is a New Zealand charity dedicated to helping and supporting kiwis and their whānau through cancer diagnosis, treatment and recovery. With services ranging from information campaigns to accomodation and support groups for people with cancer, they lessen the burdens people face throughout this troubling time.

The show wouldn't be possible without the wonderful support of our amazing sponsors. A huge thank you to SkyCity Theatre, Tāmaki Health, Azure Sapphire, Med Enterprises, Southern Cross Healthcare, Medical Protection Society, OneHealth, Specialty Trainees of New Zealand and Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists.
