Auckland Select Singles Launch Night - Meet, Mingle & Clubbing
Description
Good people. Good nights. No Scrubs.
Sick of swiping? Tired of singles events built around forced rotations, awkward games and conversations that feel like job interviews?
Auckland Select Singles is doing things differently.
This is a guided singles night out built around real conversation, natural chemistry and actually having a great Friday night.
No speed dating. No assigned partners. No board games pretending to create chemistry.
Instead, we get a good crowd of singles together, help break the ice properly, and keep giving the room a few playful nudges throughout the night so people keep mixing, talking and actually meeting each other.
Guided enough that people actually meet. Free enough that chemistry can happen naturally.
🎉 FREE Launch Night - Register for Your Free Ticket!
Your free ticket includes our hosted singles gathering, guided introductions, a playful icebreaker and some complimentary shared nibbles to get the evening started.
Drinks and additional food are available to purchase directly from the bar.
No speed dating. No forced rotations. Just a proper Friday night out.
Please do both:
✅ Get your FREE Humanitix ticket - Select your free Men's or Women's ticket to confirm your place. No payment required.
✅ RSVP on Meetup too - Join the Auckland Select Singles community, stay connected with other members, receive event updates and be part of future nights out.
Meetup event: https://www.meetup.com/auckland-select-singles-nights-out-clubbing-no-scrubs/events/316879943/
Important: Please complete BOTH steps: Your free Humanitix ticket helps us manage attendance and gender balance, while your Meetup RSVP helps us build an active singles community beyond this first event. Both are completely free, and we'd love you to be part of both.
✅ What to expect
6:30 PM - Arrive, find us and meet the others
Come solo or bring a single friend. Just make sure each of you gets a free Humanitix ticket and RSVPs on Meetup.
You do NOT need a wingman, wingwoman or an existing group to fit in.
If you don't know anybody, don't stress. Most people won't.
We're planning to have a table near the front as our Auckland Select Singles home base. Come find us when you arrive and we'll introduce you to the others.
I'll be putting on some complimentary shared nibbles to help get the evening started.
Drinks and additional food are available to purchase directly from the bar, including non-alcoholic options.
Please support the venue with any additional drinks or food you'd like during the evening. Non-alcoholic drinks are absolutely fine.
Let's make it a great night for the venue too, so they'll be happy to have us back! 😄
Around 7:00 PM - We break the ice properly
We'll kick things off with a quick, informal icebreaker, having some fun with the things that normally make singles events awkward.
Things like:
standing around in little men-on-one-side, women-on-the-other-side huddles
closed-off body language
waiting forever for somebody else to make the first move
boring interview-style conversations
how to simply walk over and say hello
why making the first move works both ways
how to decline an interaction without being rude
why rejection really isn't the end of the world
the difference between genuinely meeting people and treating the room like a numbers game
Expect some self-deprecating humour, willing volunteers and probably your host making an idiot of himself for educational purposes 😄
Nobody will be forced to participate, perform in front of the room or talk to anyone they don't want to.
Then mingle naturally
Talk to whoever catches your interest.
Flirt. Laugh. Dance. Exchange numbers. Introduce people. Stay in a conversation that's going well or politely move on from one that isn't.
And we do NOT disappear after the opening icebreaker.
Throughout the night we'll keep an eye on the room and occasionally throw in a quick, playful reset if everybody starts retreating back into the usual little huddles, getting stuck with the people they arrived with or forgetting that they came to a singles event to actually meet somebody.
No forced rotations.
No assigned conversations.
Just enough guidance to keep the room socially alive.
And yes, this is actually a night out
As the evening gets going, expect music, nightlife and clubbing rather than sitting around a table playing dating games.
The official event runs from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM, but nobody blows a whistle at 9:30 and sends everyone home.
From 10:00 PM, the venue switches into club mode and keeps going until 3:00 AM.
If you're having a great night, stay. Keep talking. Keep dancing. See where the night goes.
It's Friday night.
✅ Flirting is welcome and encouraged
If somebody catches your eye, go say hello.
Don't sit around hoping they'll magically make the first move. Interest works both ways. And if you need a nudge or an introduction, just grab one of us.
Meet someone. Flirt. Exchange numbers. Date. See where things go.
Interest is welcome. Pressure is not.
Nobody owes anybody attention, attraction or another conversation.
If you're not interested, a polite:
"Thanks, but I'm all good."
is enough.
If somebody isn't interested in you, smile, say:
"All good, have a great night."
and carry on enjoying yourself.
Chemistry is good. Consent is clear. People are not inventory.
❌ What this is NOT
❌ NOT Speed dating
❌ NOT Forced rotations
❌ NOT Awkward networking
❌ NOT Assigned partners
❌ NOT Card or board games pretending to manufacture chemistry
❌ NOT Sitting around interviewing each other
❌ NOT Men spending the night staring from across the room
❌ NOT Women spending the night hiding in an impenetrable soccer huddle 😄
❌ Absolutely NO treating the room like a pickup circuit
❌ Absolutely NO Scrub behaviour
🚩 No Scrubs means something
We want everyone here to have a good night.
Harassment, aggression, unwanted physical contact, repeated boundary-pushing, obnoxious, disruptive or abusive behaviour, deliberate humiliation of other members, being visibly intoxicated, or refusing to take a clear no for an answer may result in you being asked to leave.
If you're removed from the event for misconduct, you'll also be excluded from future Auckland Select Singles events.
🎟️ FREE Tickets and gender balance
Your FREE ticket includes:
✅ Participation in our hosted Auckland Select Singles gathering.
✅ Some complimentary shared nibbles to help get the evening started.
✅ Guided introductions, a playful icebreaker and ongoing help keeping the room socially alive.
Please get your own FREE Humanitix ticket and RSVP on Meetup too. It helps us organise a great night and grow the community.
We use separate FREE Men's and Women's ticket allocations to help keep the room reasonably balanced.
If your ticket type is sold out, join the waitlist. Additional places may be released as the other allocation fills or somebody cancels.
Please only book a free ticket if you genuinely intend to attend. If your plans change, cancel your Humanitix ticket and update your Meetup RSVP so somebody else can take your place.
👗 Dress code
Friday night out / smart casual.
Make an effort, but don't overthink it. Dress like you're going to a good Auckland bar or club or on a date - clean, presentable and comfortable enough to stay out and have fun.
No suits required. No fashion competition. Just look like you meant to go out tonight.
👥 Launch numbers
We want enough people in the room for the format to work properly.
We need enough confirmed Humanitix ticket holders and a workable balance between men's and women's tickets.
If the numbers or gender balance aren't viable by the week of the event, we'll move the launch to the next suitable Friday rather than run a half-empty or badly unbalanced first night.
If the date changes, we'll update both Humanitix and Meetup and notify everyone registered. If the new date doesn't work for you, please cancel your free Humanitix ticket and update your Meetup RSVP.
📍 Venue
Long Room & Long Shot, Ponsonby
We're planning to have a table near the front as our Auckland Select Singles meeting point.
We're joining the venue's normal Friday night crowd rather than booking a private function area. Our table is simply the home base. From there, mingle, move around the venue and enjoy the night.
Exact table location will be confirmed before the event.
So what's the goal?
Maybe you meet somebody you want to date.
Maybe there's instant chemistry.
Maybe you make some great new friends.
Maybe you end up owning the dance floor.
Maybe it's simply a ridiculously good night out.
We're not trying to build another singles community with thousands of names on a page and nobody actually turning up.
We're building a real crowd that comes out, gets to know each other and actually comes back.
Good people. Good energy. Red flags stay out.
Tickets for good, not greed Humanitix dedicates 100% of profits from booking fees to charity
