Join Outdoor Hounds this August for three guided dog walks across Victoria — from the wild Bass Coast clifftops to the granite peaks of the You Yangs and a twilight waterfall walk through the Yarra Ranges.

Each walk is a separate ticket. Choose the one that suits you — or come to all! Spots are limited to keep groups small and personal, so book early to avoid missing out.

🗓 SAT 8 AUGUST — George Bass Coastal Walk, Kilcunda
📍 Kilcunda, Bass Coast
⏰ 11:30am | ~14km return | Moderate | ~4–5 hrs
🐾 Dogs on lead (trail) · Off lead (beach) | 90 mins south-east of Melbourne

One of Victoria's great clifftop walks — and in winter it is absolutely at its best. The George Bass Coastal Walk traces the wild southern edge of the Bass Coast high above the crashing surf of Bass Strait, with panoramic ocean views the whole way. We're doing the full out and back, with an off-lead beach run at the turnaround point before heading back along the clifftops. It will be windy. It will be dramatic. Bring a windproof layer and a very enthusiastic dog. 🌊

🗓 SUN 16 AUGUST — You Yangs Regional Park, Flinders Peak
📍 You Yangs Regional Park, Little River
⏰ 10:00am | ~7.1km return | Moderate | ~2-3 hrs
🐾 Dogs on lead | 50 mins west of Melbourne

The distinctive granite peaks of the You Yangs rise sharply from the volcanic plains west of Melbourne, and Flinders Peak is the one to climb. Named after explorer Matthew Flinders who first summited it in 1802, the peak rewards the ascent with sweeping 360° views — Melbourne skyline to the north-east, Geelong and Port Phillip Bay to the south, and the Bunjil Wedge-tailed Eagle geoglyph carved into the hillside below. Winter is the ideal season — cool, clear air and no shade to worry about on the exposed granite ridge. Keep an eye out for koalas, kangaroos and echidnas on the way up. 🦅

🗓 SAT 22 AUGUST — Steavensons Falls Twilight Walk, Marysville
📍 Steavensons Falls, Marysville
⏰ 4:00pm | ~8.2km return | Moderate | ~2.5 hrs
🐾 Dogs on lead | 1.5 hrs north-east of Melbourne
🔦 Head torch required

Something a little different to finish the month. We're walking into Steavensons Falls at dusk along the Tree Fern Gully Track — one of Victoria's most atmospheric bush paths, following the river through a lush corridor of towering tree ferns as the light fades. The falls themselves are 84 metres of cascading water, floodlit from dusk until 11pm, and we'll arrive right at golden hour before walking back through the fern gully under torchlight. A head torch is non-negotiable — please bring one. Waterproof boots and warm layers are essential.

⚠️ Weather watch: if heavy rain is forecast we'll move to a 10:00am start instead and do the full walk in daylight. We'll confirm by midday Friday 21 August either way.
