Aushadhi 2022 Revealing Australian Ayurvedic Herbs ~ Native & Introduced Species

Garnering the expansive knowledge of Australian native and introduced species of plants from local and international experts, to discover the medicinal uses and values through the lens of Ayurveda.
This unique gathering will bring the long overdue, cross-cultural bridge of understanding the availability, uses and preparations of species that are adapted to Australian conditions.In addition is the need to connect deeper with native foods and medicines to honour the fundamental Ayurvedic principle of utilising what the local land has habitually been providing for thousands of years.
The natural environment you inhabit provides all that is needed to thrive in it, hence the goal of this conference is to shine a light on the potent Ayurvedic treasures in Australia.

About the Conference

Ayurveda is not merely a system of medicine; it is a way of life that is underpinned by principles that are eternal and universal.It is eternal as it’s stood the test of time in remaining consistent and as relevant as it was over 5000 years ago.The universality of Ayurveda is the focus of this conference as it is the fundamental principles of Ayurveda that can be and applied to any part of the world and its inhabitants.The five elements, a key concept of Ayurveda, are everywhere, in every country, in all of us. Their composition and qualities adapt to different ecosystems, seasons and climates.
Understanding the geo-climatic nature, flora, fauna and local traditions pertaining to food, lifestyle and medicine is an essential part of tapping into nature’s offerings to preserve and promote the wellbeing of all.Every substance can be a medicine if the knowledge is available in how to harvest, process and use it.
A plant that thrives in a locality contains the ‘osa’ or essence required to thrive in that place.Such plants that offer health benefits in this way are called Aushadhi and it’s our responsibility to learn, share and preserve that knowledge now and in the future with the help of an expert line up of speakers who are bearers of this knowledge.
Aushadhi 2022 is the first endeavour of its kind to reveal the Aushadhi of Australia, for natural, ethical, safe and sustainable medicine for the future.

Speakers:Uncle Noel Butler - Noel Butler is a Budawang Elder of the Yuin Nation South Coast NSW. He is a qualified teacher and mentor and has been working as a Cultural Educator for over 30 years, running specific programs for all sectors and has written his own accredited curriculum.

Noel is a horticulturist who has taken his cultural teachings overseas on many occasions and was speaker at the World Indigenous Conference on sustainability in India 2016.He continues to deliver educational programs on Indigenous Health through understanding of our natural environment and the food it produces.Noel’s interactive lessons are inclusive of everyone who call themselves Australian and who has a desire to learn and continue the Traditional Cultural values of this country through environmental education.

Dr Rammanohar - Research Director of Amrita School of Ayurveda. He received BAMS degree from Bharathiyar University, Coimbatore, in 1991 and MD (Ay) degree from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bengaluru, in 2001. He has been contributing to the field of Ayurvedic research for the last 30 years.

Dr. Somit Kumar - Completed MD in Dravyaguna (knowledge of medicinal substances) and is currently pursuing research for his PhD in the Department of Molecular Biology at the University of Latvia. He is also involved in several other research projects. He is the director at AVP Research Foundation, CEO and Managing Director of AVP Baltics.
