Event description

Aussie Bird Count is here!

Take part in joining us for the Aussie Bird Count on Wednesday 19th October from 9am - 10:30am at Lin Gordon Reserve in Thirlmere!

The event will be run by a local expert who will run the count and then take participants for a walk and talk of the site to educate them about Wollondilly’s local bird species.

The Aussie Bird Count runs from 17-23 October every year and is an activity for all-ages that involves observing and counting the birds that live near you – whether that’s in your garden, the local park or even your town centre.

By participating in the Aussie Bird Count, you will be helping BirdLife Australia find out about the common species that live where people live. Providing them with a snapshot of Australian birds at the same time each year helps look at the trends in our bird communities from year to year. This is important because give an indication of the health of the environment – think of birds as a barometer for nature!

This is an easy way to play a role in caring for our environment while learning and having fun in the process.

We encourage all participants to download the Birdlife Aussie Bird Count App prior to the event as it will be utilised during the count.

Places are limited so please register here -

We hope to see you there!
