1. About the Conference


The conference convenes policymakers, industry leaders, researchers and students across two days in Brisbane, moving from industry practice, policy and research on day one to site visits and a student workshop on day two.

Two Days

  • Day One, 28 January. Conference. Industry practice, policy and finance, airline perspectives, technology showcases, research presentations, innovation sessions, best paper awards.

  • Day Two, 29 January. Site Visits and Student Workshop. Research facilities, SAF demonstrations, aviation infrastructure, innovation centres, student workshop.

Themes

  • SAF innovation and production pathways

  • Bilateral Australia China collaboration

  • Policy, carbon markets and green finance

  • Research and academia, including journal special issues

AUD $150 per participant.

Call for Papers


Participants are invited to contribute to three journal special issues:

  • Political Economy of Sustainable Aviation Fuel. Economics and Politics. Deadline 31 December 2027.

  • Navigating Towards 2050: The Net Zero Future of Aviation. Transport Economics and Management. Deadline 31 December 2026.

  • Journal of Air Transport Research Society. Details to be announced.

2. Student Scholarship Registration


Australia China Tertiary Competition on Aviation Sustainability, Round 3 (Brisbane).


Run by ACCSA, the Australia China Cooperation for Sustainable Aviation, and funded by the National Foundation for Australia China Relations. The competition aims to develop emerging leaders in sustainable aviation fuel and climate technologies, encourage collaboration between Australian and Chinese students, and strengthen joint efforts to address climate change.

First Prize (two winners each in Australia and China)

  • Return economy airfare to Brisbane, capped at AUD 1,800 for international travel and AUD 600 for domestic travel

  • Two nights accommodation in Brisbane

  • Conference registration fee

Third Prize (ten each in Australia and China)

Eligibility

  • Currently enrolled at a recognised university in Australia or China, including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan

  • Permanent resident of either country

Submission


A 2000 word academic essay or research paper in English on sustainable aviation fuel, fuel efficiency, or other approaches to aviation decarbonisation.


Submission deadline: 30 November 2026.
