Australia's Climate Policy - Effective or Greenwashing?
Event description
The Australian Parliament is currently engaged in finalising and passing a key element of its climate policy, the Safeguard Mechanism. Polly Hemming, Director of the Climate and Energy Program at the Australia Institute is keynote speaker at this forum which will delve into the Safeguard Mechanism, climate integrity, carbon credits and whether this policy can be effective when it comes to the critical work of reducing emissions. Local federal MPs Josh Burns and Dr Michelle Ananda-Rajah will each give an address, and Zoe Daniel will provide an address, likely in the form of a video (Zoe apologises that she is unable to attend in person on the evening due to a clash with another major event, booked prior to this forum). There will be a Q & A with all participants following presentations.
The evening will be video recorded, with a link supplied after the event.
The moderator will be Dr. Kylie McIntosh, President of BCCAG
Donations are encouraged to help cover costs of running the event, such as hall hire and advertising expenses.
