Australian folk legends Mucky Duck and Bernard Carney
Event description
Get ready for a sensational double billing of two legendary acts from the Australian folk music scene.
Bernard CarneyÂ
Bernard is an all-round Australian musician who has worked in music since 1974. He is a songwriter, community choir director and guitar teacher, and his songs are peppered with passion and humour. He has made nine successful albums, including "West", "Feathers and tributes", and "No time like the future". Carney was the main guest at the "Top Half Festival" near Alice Springs in June 2007 and he has regularly played at the Fairbridge Festival. He was the face of the Perth White Pages for 2010.
Bernard has received four major Australian song writing awards. In 1997 his award-winning song “Gardens of Death” was adopted as the international anthem for the campaign to ban landmines by the International Red Cross in Geneva which has made it into an educational video and a CD single to raise money for victims.
He has been a prominent guest at Australia's major acoustic music festivals, including the Woodford Folk Festival in Queensland (for 10 consecutive years), The Port Fairy Folk Festival in Victoria (named Artist of the Year in 2003), and the National Folk Festival in Canberra. He has regularly toured internationally, and has done international support concert work with Foster and Allen, Gene Pitney, Taj Mahal, Ralph McTell, and Stephane Grapelli. Carney is frequently commissioned to write songs for television, radio, and community organisations.Â
Bernard's on-going list of achievements and contributions to society resulted in him receiving the Order of Australia Medal in the 2019 Queen's Birthday Honours. We can't wait to have Bernard perform at The Bay Music Club.
Mucky Duck Bush Band
Since 1974, the "Duck" has been performing its unique brand of Australian folk songs and dance to audiences large and small at festivals, community & corporate events and schools across Australia and overseas.Â
Their two sets at The Bay will be entertaining and informative and pay homage to our Colonial heritage. Songs range from favourites such as Waltzing Matilda and the National Anthem through traditional Aussie folk to contemporaries such as John Williamson, as well as originals in the Bush Band style. The music is lively with broad appeal and they play mostly acoustic instruments at family-friendly sound levels.
If the audience is up for it they will incorporate a bush dance or two. The dances are fun, easy to learn and tailored to suit different age groups and their expert dance callers explain the steps beforehand as well as during the dance.Â
This will be a fantastic evening of live music!
