Australian Heritage Festival: Industrial Textures of The Coal Loader

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

The Waverton Coal Loader is one of the most significant industrial heritage sites on Sydney Harbour. It is particularly interesting because of the combination of rock, sandstone, brick, steel, concrete and timber used in its construction. The textures and juxtapositions of these elements make ideal subjects for photography and other artwork.

Join North Sydney Council Historian Dr Ian Hoskins on a walk around the site which will focus on the material detail of the Coal Loader and provide historical background on their use.

You do not need anything to take part in this event however you may choose to bring a camera and/or sketchbook and mark-making materials, refillable water bottle and/or coffee cup.

Please wear close-toes shoes and dress for the weather on the day.

Bookings are essential and strictly limited. Please only book if you can make it so as not to take the opportunity from others.

This is a COVID-safe event.

This event is provided for free by North Sydney Council.
