Theranostics, a personalised approach that combines diagnostic imaging with targeted radiotherapy, is transforming the way we diagnose and treat cancer. By using radiopharmaceuticals to both detect and treat disease at a molecular level, theranostics offers a tailored approach to patient care, improving treatment precision and outcomes.

Total Body PET (TB-PET) is now elevating this field even further. With its ability to capture the entire body in a single scan, TB-PET provides unmatched sensitivity, ultra-fast acquisition, and dynamic, whole-body imaging. These capabilities make it an ideal platform for theranostics—enabling detailed tracking of radiopharmaceutical distribution, assessing therapy response in real time, and supporting the development of new targeted therapies.

Join us for our upcoming webinar to explore how TB-PET is enhancing theranostic research and clinical practice. You'll hear from two leading experts as they delve into the technical, clinical, and translational opportunities enabled by this cutting-edge imaging technology.

In this webinar:

· Professor Michael Hofman, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, will share clinical insights from theranostic programs in prostate cancer, highlighting how Total Body PET supports a whole-person approach to care.

· Dr Kathy Willowson, Royal North Shore Hospital, will discuss the technical capabilities of TB-PET that make it uniquely suited for theranostics, including ultra-low-dose imaging, simultaneous whole-body kinetics, and enhanced quantification.

· The presentations will be followed by a short Q&A session.

About the Facility:

Imaging to understand whole-body processes such as novel drug interactions during therapeutic development is now accessible through Australia’s first open-access research-dedicated Total Body PET (TB-PET).

The Sydney Imaging Core Research Facility at The University of Sydney, in partnership with Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD) and the National Imaging Facility (NIF), launched the Australian National Total Body PET Facility in the Department of Nuclear Medicine at Royal North Shore Hospital.

TB-PET can be used to capture molecular processes from all organs simultaneously. The high-performance instrument can be used to study diseases that affect the entire body and build a better picture of complex processes such as ageing, metabolism, brain signalling and drug interactions.

Due to its exquisite sensitivity, it also has the potential to use much lower radiation doses compared to conventional PET scanners, making it safer to scan children, healthy volunteers, and to scan patients repeatedly to better understand disease progression and treatment effects.

TB-PET is accessible for research studies through Sydney Imaging Core Research Facility, the University of Sydney Node of the National Imaging Facility. For more information, contact Dr Georgios Angelis.
