AUT x SBN: Echo Site visit

Join AUT’s Faculty of Business, Economics and Law in partnership with SBN for an exclusive site visit to Echo, New Zealand’s largest e-waste recycling and technology lifecycle solutions provider.

Echo works with organisations to extend the life of technology through secure IT asset disposition, refurbishment, reuse and responsible recycling. Each year, the team processes millions of kilograms of electronic equipment, recovering valuable resources, protecting sensitive data and ensuring hazardous materials are managed safely and ethically.

During this visit, you’ll tour Echo’s Auckland headquarters and processing facility, which is home to advanced technology including its BLUBOX shredding system and MSS Optical Sorter. You’ll also hear directly from the Echo team about its sustainability journey, circular-economy approach and the operational realities of managing electronic waste at scale.

The experience will include:

• A presentation and Q&A with the Echo team

• A guided tour of the warehouse and processing operations

• Insights into secure data destruction, refurbishment and resource recovery

• An opportunity to network with the Echo team and fellow AUT students over refreshments

Important health and safety information

As this visit includes a tour of an operational processing facility:

• Closed-toe shoes must be worn. Students who arrive without suitable footwear may be unable to participate in the site tour.

• All visitors must follow the instructions provided during Echo’s health and safety briefing.

• High-visibility clothing will be supplied by Echo for the site tour.

• Please advise us during registration of any accessibility requirements or health considerations that may affect your participation.
