Authentic Mexican Cooking class & Cultural Exchange Perth

Hola!

Join me for an Authentic Mexican cooking class and cultural exchange! I will be teaching you how to make tortillas by hand with fresh masa! I am guided by the indigenous wisdom of my ancestors and am excited to share my culture with you all. 

Impress your friends with your knowledge of tortilla-making and traditional Mexican customs. My mother hails from Michoacan, Mexico and my father is from Zacatecas, Mexico. I grew up making (and eating of course!) tortillas and tacos so of course I think it is such a shame that in Australia it is so hard to find authentic Mexican food, especially fresh tortillas. So, I decided to bring to Perth an authentic Mexican cooking class and cultural exchange. If you are not familiar with homemade tortillas made from masa (not a package, and not with masa harina) you will be in for a tasty treat! We will be using my mother's recipe to make tacos de nopales (cactus!) 

If you have not tried cactus tacos before, you definitely want to sign up because I have not seen these on the menu in any Mexican restaurant in Australia and they are delicious! I will be showing you how I make tortillas and giving everyone a chance to try their hand making their own on my tortilla press. I will also show you how we prepare the cactus salad to fill the tacos . I will be explaining the process and answering questions throughout. I will also be sharing with everyone where they can source authentic Mexican ingredients in Perth and how they can substitute what can't be found here with other ingredients. Prepare your tastebuds for an adventure around to the other side of the world because we are bringing Mexico to Perth! 

I have been sharing my cultural foods all over Australia throughout my travels because I love teaching people about my cultura. I am only in Perth for a month and then will resume my travels so don't miss out!
