Join us in conversation..
Join Glen Smith in conversation with 3 local authors -Arthur Frame; Toni Risson & Lawrey Goodrick, who have each successfully navigated the word of publishing and their books can be found in good bookstores around the country. We will hear from the authors about their unique challenges / wins working with publishers and consider whether their specific genre is any different from the others in the process.
This special event is to celebrate 2026 SPARK Festival and part of the full program to showcases Ipswich's local authors and illustrators.
There is no charge to attend but light refreshements will be served and registration is essential.
Meet the authors

Toni Risson
Dr Toni Risson is a storyteller and a cultural historian who has penned everything from children’s picture books to a doctorate on the magic of lollies. An expert of the Greek café phenomenon, Toni curated Meet Me at the Paragon for the State Library of Queensland (2019-2020), and her book Brisbane’s Greek Cafes: A Million Malted Milks was a finalist in the 2019 Queensland Literary Awards.

Lawrey Goodrick
Lawry Goodrick can’t help but write whimsical, witty and outrageous stories that reflect his hyperactive and animated imagination. His short story collection Odd One Out was shortlisted in Chanticleer Book Reviews 2020 which featured Cans for Change that went on to be published by Hawkeye Publishing. Lawrey's second book, Half-Life, was also released by Hawkeye on 24 January 2026 and was longlisted for the 2025 Gertrude Warner Book Awards novel competition for Middle Grade Fiction.

Arthur Frame AM
Arthur Frame AM enjoyed a fifty-year career in the Arts in Australia working in radio, television and extensively in the theatre as an actor, director, artistic director, playwright, executive production manager, theatre manager, chief executive officer, administrator and board director. His Memoir detailing his incredible career, The Arts Juggler was published by InHouse Publishing in 2025.
