    Event description

Join us for Seattle-based kid lit author Will Taylor in conversation with KR Alexander as we celebrate the paperback release of Language of Seabirds! The book is a American Library Association 2023 Rainbow Booklist Pick, Washington State Book Award YA Winner 2023, and a TODAY Show Read with Jenna Jr. Summer List Selection.

    About the book

What would you do if you had one perfect chance to be yourself? Trapped on the Oregon coast with his unhappy, just-divorced father, 12-year-old Jeremy isn’t expecting much from his summer vacation. But everything changes when the boy of his dreams runs by, and Jeremy discovers it takes more than dreaming to reach out and say what’s in his heart.

Perfect for kids in grades 5-9.

Will Taylor (he/they) is a reader, writer, and honeybee fan. He lives in the heart of downtown Seattle surrounded by all the seagulls and not quite too many teacups. When not writing he can be found searching for the perfect bakery, talking to trees in parks, and completely losing his cool when he meets longhaired dachshunds.

K.R. Alexander is the pseudonym for Alex R. Kahler. As K.R., he writes creepy tales for young readers, including the smash hits The Collector and Darkroom. As Alex, he writes fantasy for adults and teens, including The Rune binder Chronicles and The Immortal Circus. In all his tales, his focus is on ensuring that every reader gets to see themselves as a hero.
