Dinner presentation: Autumn pasture sowing – Maximising legumes in perennial pastures

Date: Tuesday 11 February, 2025

Arrival time: 5:00 pm for 5:30 pm seminar start

Venue: Tall Timbers, Britton's Function Room - 5 Scotchtown Road, Smithtown

The Tasmanian Institute of Agriculture (TIA) invites livestock producers and advisors to a free dinner and presentation to hear the latest research on the selection and establishment of perennial legumes and their role in increasing red meat productivity

TIA’s Feedbase Researcher, Rowan Smith, will share findings from experiments and on-farm demonstrations aimed at increasing legume composition in perennial pastures. 

After dinner, Jason Lynch from Pinion Advisory will discuss planning and strategies for successful autumn pasture renovation including identifying underperforming pastures and the use of forage crops.

RSVP is required for seating and catering. Registrations close on Monday 10 February.

Optional Farm Walk:
An optional farm walk is being held from 3:00pm - 4:30pm at TIA's perennial legume trial site at Alcomie (Facilitated by Rowan Smith, Feedbase Researcher TIA and host producer Brett McGlone)
A separate ticket is required for this event which you can select at checkout.

The farm walk will include information on transitioning to autumn grazing management and a paddock walk and discussion.
