Samhain Forest Bathing Spirit Walk
To be announced
Friends of the Forest
Event description
We will celebrate the turning of the wheel with a slow forest bathing spirit walk—to commune and connect with the spirits of the living earth, taking in the natural world around us with all of our senses, including our sixth sense, and allowing spirits to lead the way. A spirit walk is a mindful walk in nature designed to commune with spirits and connect with the living earth.
We will begin our journey by setting our intentions, attuning ourselves and our minds to receptivity, and being open to the spirits of the forest. Samhain is an excellent time to seek balance and communion with the spirit world and see what messages or insights they have for us on the journey ahead. The spirits of the land, the Genius Loci, are always present, ready to share and help us grow in our paths.
The idea of this walk is that you are working to converse with spirits and nature itself–so there will be time for solitude and well as silence with others on our journey. Having other people along for a “hike” who are not spiritually minded will not work for this particular practice. You need to be alone or in a quiet space with like-minded practitioners.
On our walk, there are many different ways to understand and experience the messages of nature: physical, spirit, and through tools. I have some activities planned to help us connect and explore the forest through all these different lenses.
As we begin to wind down our journey, we will take some time to journal and record our thoughts. This is also a time for self-reflection, thinking about the seeds we would like to plant within ourselves, to incubate over the winter months, and re-emerge in spring.
We will end the walk sharing some wild teas and tasters of seasonal wild medicines. We will make a simple altar in nature to share our gratitude for the guidance and wisdom we received from the spirits of the forest.
