Avalanche Rescue (January 21, 2024)

This avalanche rescue course is for winter recreationists who travel in the backcountry.  

Students will learn the importance of anticipating and knowing when their group is entering avalanche terrain. Instruction will also include:

• Trailhead Checks
• Avalanche Terrain Travel Protocals
• Avalanche Rescue Gear and Techniques
• Companion Rescue Process
• Basic Patient Care of Avalanche Victims

Please note that this course may be canceled due to insufficient snow.

All students must have an avalanche transceiver, probe, and shovel. Analog or digital (phone app) inclinometer is also important to have.

The field portion of the course will be run by KPAC staff in the terrain surrounding Arizona Snowbowl.
