Navigating Educational Complexity Through Coaching and Mentoring

This workshop equips leaders with the tools to build a thriving coaching and mentoring culture while navigating the complexity and unpredictability of leading change in education. In fast-shifting school environments, effective coaching and mentoring are essential for sustaining growth, resilience, and adaptability. By focusing on your own development and building leadership self-awareness, you will become a more powerful mentor and coach capable of guiding teams through uncertainty. Key sessions explore core skills—including active listening, targeted questioning, delivering feedback, and managing challenging conversations—alongside an understanding of developmental diversity in both yourself and others. Insights are drawn from current research and Victoria University of Wellington's micro-credential course, Effective Mentoring Practices for Teachers in Aotearoa NZ. This session is designed for anyone supporting staff development, including PCT mentors, SCTs, Syndicate Leaders, HODs/HOLs, emerging leaders, and senior leadership teams.

BIO for Pip Woodward

Pip Woodward is a Deputy Principal at Ōtūmoetai College in Tauranga with a Master’s degree in complexity and adult development theories, alongside international qualifications in leadership coaching. She has led national Ministry of Education projects on student wellbeing and facilitates Victoria University of Wellington's Effective Mentoring Practices for Teachers in Aotearoa NZ, specialising in inclusive, growth-focused school environments
