Event description

We rarely hear the words hope and climate change spoken together. Many of us deal with the threat of climate change by not talking about it at all, living with a sense of dread, or feeling powerless and unable to act. These are all reasonable responses to a threat which seems so big, and yet so abstract that we cannot quite work out how to respond.

This workshop is part of a project which aims to use art to give people tools for talking and acting in response to climate change. Offered over two weekends, participants will collaborate with Tasmanian contemporary jeweller/artist Janine Combes crafting words, stories and forms which will become wearable artworks designed to create a sense of hope and initiate conversations about this important topic.

No experience is required. Participants will be invited to bring along materials to incorporate into their artworks, a sketch/notebook, pen and a contribution to the shared lunch. Other materials and resources will be provided.

Please note: This workshop is held over two sessions. It is important that participants be able to attend both sessions as the artworks will be completed in the second week.

Sunday 15 June & Sunday 22 June from 10am - 2pm
