Tour 1 - Farms and Historic Townships

Join us on a trip to the historic townships of Yackandandah and Beechworth where you can stroll through the gorgeous streets of yesteryear. First stop Totally Renewable Yackandandah to hear about a 100% volunteer run community group with the lofty goal of powering this small Victorian town with 100% renewable energy, giving resilience, savings, lower emissions and showing that it can be done. Then onto the
famous Beechworth Honey store and Bee School. While there we take a behind the scenes look at how 4th generation beekeeper Jodie Goldsworthy has sown seeds over 30 years to grow a primary production business into a national and international brand with impact far beyond their humble beginnings. Hear how a 100 year plan and a focus on education and giving back is guiding the business for the future. Discover the incredible role bees play within our world and learn about creating a sustainable future for all. As we head through the luscious and picturesque Indigo Valley in North East Victoria we will stop in at Indigo Valley Lamb, a Paddock to Plate Lamb business owned and operated with a lot of love and passion by Paul and Suse Heard. They breed and raise South African Meat Merinos and sell their delicious lamb direct to consumers and restaurants locally and via Farmers Markets. Paul and Suse engage their local butcher, CC Quality Meats in Beechworth, to prepare their Lamb.

Tour 2 - Rutherglen Regional Produce and Wine Mecca

Take a trip down the food and wine trail towards the historic township of Rutherglen Victoria. We will stop along the way at Gooramadda Olives, an Agri-Tourism business run by Melanie and Rob, they grow and produce olives and extra virgin olive oils. The olive trees were well established over twelve years ago. They also have a variety of roses, hydrangeas, iris, orchids, proteas, a grove of caper bushes and a small citrus trees orchard which are used for their jams and marmalades. They make artisan handmade soaps, made with olive oil of course. Spend some time exploring the township of Rutherglen before heading to Moodemere Estate. A family business owned and operated by Michael and Belinda Chambers. The range of wines is made exclusively with estate grown fruit from the single vineyard, where vines have grown since 1886. Michael and Belinda work closely with their two sons. Joel is the sustainability specialist and farm manager, and Harry operates the onsite accommodation, Harry's on Moodemere. The business includes Estate grown wine production and sales, the cellar door and Lakeside Wine Bar located in the heritage homestead, onsite accommodation in the Moodemere Lake House and Harry's on Moodemere, and a 1000 acre farm producing lamb, cereal grains and hay. Lake Moodemere Estate is North East Victoria’s first Sustainably Certified vineyard and only carbon neutral business.
