The limits on your business might all be in your head,
and most of them are probably not real?

Most of us still make the decisions we need to make, but somewhere between having the idea and making the call, our thinking has often done a bit of editing first. Maybe you make a decision and then keep going over it for days. Maybe you have an idea you'd happily back, but you start wondering what people will think of it. Maybe something went wrong once, and ever since then you've been pulling back from anything that looks like it. Or maybe you just go round in circles for so long that the safe option ends up winning by default.

The hard part is that it rarely feels like your mind doing any of this. It feels like good judgement, and sometimes that's exactly what it is. But a lot of the time it's fear, or doubt, or an old experience that has nothing to do with the decision in front of you, quietly narrowing down which options you'll even consider. You can be busy, productive and getting plenty done, and still be running a smaller business than the one you're capable of running.

Toni Everard has spent more than a decade training and coaching people, and a good part of that time has gone into working out why smart, capable people stay stuck.

She's the author of The Turning Point, which she launched in August, and the creator of the process behind it, and she's also one of our own, a B3 member who hosts one of our Monthly Matchup groups. What she found is written on the back of her book. You can understand exactly where a pattern came from and still be run by it, because understanding a pattern and being free of it turn out to be two very different things.

On Monday 12 October, Toni is going to talk with us about how fear, self-doubt and the patterns we don't notice can get in the way of our business decisions, why they're so hard to see in ourselves, and what we can do about it. There will be plenty of time for your questions.

Because if the limits really are in your head, then that's also the one place you can move them.

And a clear head is where your best judgement comes from.

We'll explore

The everyday ways our thinking limits our decisions, and why so few of them feel like it at the time
Why understanding a pattern isn't the same as being free of it
What fear and self-doubt can cost a business, in the options we never get around to considering
How to tell the difference between careful judgement and an old fear doing the deciding
What you can do the next time you catch it happening

Monday 12 October | Plant 4 Bowden

As with all our events, there will be plenty of time before and after the conversation to connect with other South Australian business leaders. No selling. No shallow networking. Just honest conversations with people carrying similar responsibility.

If you run a business or lead a team, and any of this sounds familiar, this one's for you.

Please note: This event may be photographed and filmed. By attending, you consent to your image being used in promotional materials related to Business Builders.
