Overview

Join us for beautiful baby massage and gentle postnatal wellbeing.

Baby Massage + Postnatal Wellbeing (Roots Mind and Body Studio, Kinver, Thursdays)

Baby massage suits the early weeks best, from around six weeks until your baby starts rolling. Over the course you'll learn comforting strokes a part of the body at a time, including the ones that ease trapped wind and help settle the unsettled stretch that often comes in the early evening. Babies this age aren't doing a great deal yet, so the pace stays slow and quiet, and you'll leave each week with something you can use at home.

For many mums this is the first class they've come to since the birth, so the postnatal side matters as much as the massage. Each session leaves time for you as well, to talk through the questions that feel pressing in the early weeks and to find the other mums who are sitting with the same. We make a treasured mummy-made keepsake each session.

•Promotes calm and relaxation for your baby

•Supports healthy sleep and digestion

•Encourages gentle bonding and attachment

•Helps relieve tension and discomfort

•Boosts your confidence in handling and soothing your baby

•Provides a calm, small-group environment with expert guidance

•Supports baby’s sensory and motor development

•Gives you a supportive space to connect with other new parents

Each session includes baby massage techniques alongside postnatal discussions on sleep, feeding, changes and wellbeing practices for you. We make a beautiful keepsake each week.

Small groups mean a familiar, friendly space each week, with the same mums and babies, so you can truly feel settled.

FAQs

  • What age are the classes for?

Baby Massage is usually most suitable from around 6 weeks until babies become able to roll. In most cases, premature babies would attend in line with their adjusted age (dependent on their medical history)

  • Do I need to bring anything with me?

Just whatever you’d normally bring for yourself and your baby. Mats, oils and class materials are provided.

  • What typically happens in a session?

Sessions include gentle baby massage, relaxed discussion, responsive settling, and space to slow down a little together. The atmosphere is calm and unhurried.

  • What should we wear?

Something easy to remove and put back on comfortably. Babies are usually massaged in just their nappy so they can enjoy skin-to-skin contact and movement freely. something comfortable for you to sit in.

  • What if I miss a class?

I know life with a baby can be unpredictable. If space allows, I’ll always try to offer either a catch-up session in a future block or a Baby Yoga space instead. Videos are sent following the sessions.

  • Can partners/ family attend?

The first session is designed for one parent and baby, and we can discuss partners or family members attending if this is suitable amongst the group.

  • How comfortable will my baby be?

The environment is designed to feel warm, calm and responsive to babies’ needs. Feeding, changing, cuddling, moving around and taking breaks are all completely welcome.

All the while mums are able to wind down, reflect and connect with other mums. Would definitely recommend this baby class to new mums and take it up myself again if I had another.
