Baby First Aid/Baby Basic Life Support
This class is suitable from 32 -34 weeks of pregnancy onwards or any time in the first 6 months after your baby is born.
Your program includes:
Recognising and responding to an unwell baby 2-hour virtual class (via zoom)
Post class resources and fact sheets (sent electronically)
Apps and websites for baby safety
In the Baby First Aid/Baby Basic Life Support class, you will learn:
When to call 000 for an ambulance in an emergency
Baby cardiopulmonary resuscitation (Baby CPR)
Management of choking on milk
Management of choking on food or a small object
Management of a febrile convulsion
Button battery safety
Bath and water safety
At the completion of this class, all participants will be provided with a range of e-resources and printed material for baby first aid and baby safety.
Class format:
Virtual class, held via zoom.
All virtual classes via zoom can be viewed on a laptop, desktop computer, tablet or smartphone. You can even watch it on your Smart TV if your smartphone permits screen mirroring.

You may wish to purchase the Baby Safe Program Video Series for an additional $55 for one year, unlimited access. The videos series covers:
Baby cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
Management of a choking infant on milk, and choking on food or a small object
Safe Sleeping
Safe wrapping and use of a safe sleeping bag
You can also purchase two 'quick reference' fridge magnets: 15 cm x 10cm each. The cost is $15 (plus $1.70 postage and handling).

Preterm babies
If your baby has been born preterm and/or was admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) or the Special Care Nursery (SCN) after birth, or has recently been discharged from NICU/SCN please let us know by emailing us at enquiries@preciouscare.com.au. that we can include additional information in the class relevant for preterm babies.

- How do I book a position for a one person (single attendee)?
If you only require a position for one person, please contact us for a code to enter when booking, to obtain the single attendee price of $65.00.

- Can my partner or other family member book a place at this class?
Yes, anyone can book a place to attend the Baby Safe Program: Baby First Aid/Baby Basic Life Support virtual class.
This includes partners, grandparents, aunty, uncle or a support person.
Please book a place for each person who is attending with you.
- Is this class pre-recorded or live and interactive?
This class is live and interactive. You will be able to ask A/Professor Rose Boland questions during the class. There is also a question and answer time allocated at the end of the class.
- Will I receive a recording of the class to view at a later date?
The class is not recorded- it is a live and interactive class.
- Can I get a refund if I am no longer able to attend?
A full refund is available if you cancel >24 hours prior to the class.
Cancellations <24 hours prior to the class (other than for hospital admission or a positive COVID-19 /RSV or Influenza diagnosis) and 'no shows' are non-refundable.
The booking fee (charged by Humanitix) is non-refundable.
- Can I claim the cost of this class on my private health insurance?
Most Private Health Funds do not offer rebates for childbirth education classes. Please check with your provider.
- Will I receive a certificate on completion / certificate of competency having completed this class?
Attendance at a Baby Safe Program: Baby First Aid/Baby Basic Life Support class does not lead to a professional qualification or a certification of competency in baby first aid, baby CPR or infant resuscitation.
This is a non-accredited training course.
Meet the Director and your Educator: A/Professor Rose Boland
Associate Professor Rosemarie Boland: Director: Precious Care Australia
PhD, Master of Nursing, Registered Midwife, Registered Nurse
A/Professor Rosemarie Boland a newborn educator, neonatal intensive care nurse and midwife with over 30 years’ experience. She specialises in providing first aid training for expectant parents, and parents and families of newborn babies and ex-premature infants. In addition, she develops training programs, clinical practice guidelines and resources for medical, nursing, midwifery and paramedic healthcare professionals in Victoria in her role as a statewide perinatal educator with the newborn emergency transport service.
A/Professor Rose Boland has over 35 peer reviewed publications, has written text book chapters and helps develop guidelines for Ambulance Victoria around obstetric and newborn emergencies.
The Baby Safe Program was developed by A/Professor Rose Boland. All face-to-face, Deluxe Program classes and private sessions are taught A/Professor Rose Boland.
