Praise Be! BABYMACHINE are taking a trip from here to maternity celebrating 25 years of queer, feminist, punk rock AND the 21st anniversary of their ovarian opus BIRTH IS IMMINENT. Featuring the original 3 piece line up plus special guests and support from HOTT SEXX all the way from Meanjin and locals MISSO.

BABYMACHINE
Spoon fed a diet of punk, rock, and metal, this super heavy three piece all the way from Wollongong write funny songs that are a bit political. Loud and fast, their live shows are stroke inducing, knee busting, beer spitting fun!
They have supported the likes of Tumbleweed, Cosmic Psychos, The Meanies, Magic Dirt, The Hard-Ons, Camp Cope, Cable Ties, RVIVR (USA), and Screaming Females (USA).

Babymachine released their ovarian opus album ‘Birth Is Imminent’ through their own label Toxic Shock Records back in 2003, and followed it up with a long overdue second album ‘Appetite for Reproduction’ in 2011. The band's third album "Abort! Abort! Abort!" was released in October 2019, a limited edition pressing of 100 with hand silkscreened covers. "Abort! Abort! Abort!" is a call to action against the broken systems of capitalism and corporate greed! They soon followed this up with a new single “Countdown to Extinction” on the Short Fuse 2 compilation put out by Wreckless Enterprise, and teamed up with yob-rockers The VeeBees to recreate the iconic St Valentine’s Day Massacre EP by Motorhead and Girlschool in February 2020.

Then there was COVID, then they played with Tumbleweed in 2021, with Magic Dirt and at River Rocks 2022. The word indefinite hiatus was thrown around. Now there is this show, a 25th anniversary AND the 21st birthday of BIRTH IS IMMINENT. Could this be the last Babymachine show you will ever see or the rebirth of Australia's longest running queer feminist punk band? 

HOTT SEXX
A new challenger appears! Hott Sexx are a new Meanjin/Brisbane four-piece made up of members of WHALEHOUSE, Marville, GUNK and Adele & The Chandeliers. After being thrown out of the Coorparoo Bowls Club* for raucous behaviour and too much talk about hott sexx, four local ratbags stumbled into a nearby warehouse, picked up their instruments and a band was born. The short, raucous, punk-tinged songs of Hott Sexx largely revolve around their usual topics of bowlo discourse: pet greyhounds, nerdly fixations, and playing Uno with cards they found on the street covered in dogshit. 

MISSO
Misso began in the summer of '22 in a hot garage in east Corrimal, inspired by the beautiful coastline and sweeping escarpment of their home town on Dharawal country.
Blending 90s dream pop, psych rock, surf rock, and shoegaze, they write songs for people who like dancing, and sometimes crying.
