Bach in Beijing

Welcome to our fifth in a series of free concerts at the Hobart Baha'i Centre of Learning. The concert features western and Chinese classical music. The first half of the concert will be performances of the Bach double violin concerto and Orchestral (flute) Suite No. 2. Soloists are Weihang Li and Nigel Davidson (violin) and Niloufar Pepperell (flute). The ensemble comprises harspichord (Victoria Burley), viola de gamba (Rosemary Evenhuis), violins (Mae Parr, Chloe Gardner and Abbey) and viola (Karen McCrone). The second half of the concert features performances on pipa (Jieyi Huang) and guzheng (Xintong Qiu), and spoken word poetry (Violet Wyaming) supported by traditional Chinese percussion, violin and cello.
