ABOUT THE MASTERCLASS ARTISTS:
Tabea and Louise share a common love of Bach’s music and are chamber music partners. Both artists are internationally trained and in demand as masterclass presenters, Teaching Artists, clinicians, and recording artists, invited to perform at Australia's finest music festivals and concert series.
Tabea Sitte – Violinist & Educator
Tabea Sitte is a dynamic violinist and educator with a rich international career spanning over 15 years. Born in Germany and raised in the UK, she studied Violin Performance and Pedagogy in London and New York before establishing herself as a sought-after performer and teacher in Scotland, London, Berlin, New York, and Australia.
Tabea has worked with leading ensembles and companies, including Topology, Shake & Stir Theatre Co., Riversuite SQ, and Southern Cross Symphony, and thrives in collaborative and chamber music settings. Brisbane audiences may recognize her from the Vivaldi Four Seasons Candlelight Concerts or her on-stage solo violin performance in A Christmas Carol at QPAC. Her artistry also extends to film and television—she is a featured lead violinist in Baz Luhrmann’s “Elvis” and has appeared on SBS and Channel 7 alongside various local artists.
Passionate about sharing music through performance and education, Tabea continues to inspire through her diverse musical projects and collaborations.
Louise King - Artistic Director, Cellist and Teaching Artist
Louise King, is an alumni of Royal College of Music, London and Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester and has worked with Australian Chamber Orchestra, Australian Romantic and Classical Orchestra, Opera Australia, Australian Youth Orchestra and is a resident of Eudlo, Hinterland, Gubbi Gubbi country.
Bach is known as the “grandfather of music”. Known as the ‘Shakespeare’ of composers, his music has had a profound influence on the trajectory of music over the last three hundred years. His works are of such profound beauty and form that it leaves novices and experts alike stunned and moved.
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP & MASTERCLASS
WHO: Youth or Adult musicians who play violin or cello, emerging artists, established artists, private music studio teachers, string teachers, community practitioners.
WHAT: Cello Ensemble Workshop is suitable for grade 3-6 level AMEB, Masterclass is suitable for grade 5-8 level and above, Ensemble sheet music link is emailed upon booking and receipt of payment.

MASTERCLASS: Violinists and Cellists! Are you learning a movement of a Bach suite, a Sonata or a Partita, or a Baroque work (1600-1750) by Bach? Participants have the opportunity to work on stage with Tabea and Louise and explore Baroque Style principles through a range of engaging activities.
Unwrap Bach’s iconic music for solo violin or cello in this inspiring masterclass. Take the opportunity to perform and polish your Bach in an open masterclass and engaging learning environment. Tabea and Louise will lead cellists and lovers of Bach’s music through a rich and artful educational experience. Discover the art of interpreting the suites and discuss Historically Informed Performance practice. Observers and teachers are welcome to attend.
Masterclass Topics will be:
- A short introduction to HIP (historically informed performance) practice.
- Overview of the movements in a Baroque Dance Suite.
- How can we approach it in a stylistic and informed manner on modern instruments?
- How to get the most out of your practice of Baroque music.
- Professional performance polishing tips.
Participants to prepare any movement of the following Bach works (suitable for grade 5-8 AMEB and advanced cellists):
- J.S. Bach Violin Sonatas, Partitas, or Suites
- J.S. Bach arrangements of famous works i.e. Suzuki arrangements book 3 and above
CELLO ENSEMBLE WORKSHOP: Cellists can book in for the workshop where we will play a selection of music by Bach in 3 or 4 parts. Multi-level parts are available and music will be sent upon payment and booking.
WORKSHOP PROGRAM: Music is arranged for 3 or 4 parts in a mixed level cello ensemble for players grade 3-6 AMEB level:
- J.S.Bach – Minuet In C
- J.S.Bach – Anna Magdelena’s Minuet
- J.S.Bach – Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring
- J.S.Bach – Gavotte from French Suite

- A4 folder with your music
CONDITIONS
A place in the ensemble workshop and/or masterclass is issued by Cello Dreaming. The booked place in the workshop/masterclass is considered sold and subject to the following conditions:
- The booked place cannot be exchanged with another applicant, returned and refunded after purchase.
- The right is reserved to add, withdraw or substitute presenters, artists, vary ticket prices, and/or vary advertised programs, seating arrangements and audience capacity.
- The presenter, performer and Cello Dreaming reserve the right of admission to the workshop/masterclass.
- If the workshop/masterclass has to be cancelled due to natural disaster, adverse weather conditions or for any other cause reasonably beyond the presenter’s control, there is no right of refund or exchange, and no obligation is assumed by the presenter for the arranging of a substitute event.
