Join local drawer Edie Bush in this three-part drop-in series on how to make comics and drawings from the things around you. No drawing skills are required, and if you have them, no need to bring them. What is required is access to paper and your favourite pen or pencil.

Edie will provide some of their favourite drawings and comics for inspiration, practical activities, a short q&a with a special guest, and a PDF toolkit to keep. Sessions will vary in theme but have the same structure: 1 hr long with a short stretch/rest break in the middle. Come along and share drawing time with others! All ages welcome.

Session 1: Saturday 2 October - Drawing with Words.

One of the joys of comics making is finding surprising connections between words and pictures. This session will invite participants to combine found words with drawings. Think song lyrics, poems, text messages. Participants will be provided with inspiration and tips, and exercises will be practical and accessible, no drawing skills required! (In fact, if you have them, leave them at home).

Session 2: Saturday 16 October - Drawing with Bodies.

In this session, participants will be invited to play around with the magic connection between the bodies we inhabit and drawing bodies on the page. Techniques will be gathered from contemporary comics makers. Participants will be provided with practical and accessible exercises to create movement and emotions on the page, no drawing skills required! (In fact, if you have them, leave them at home).

Session 3: Saturday 30 October - Drawing with Things Around Us.

In this session, participants will be invited to notice the things around them to make drawings that document everyday life in new ways. Participants will be provided with practical and accessible exercises to play around with still life, dialogue, shadows and light, and show time passing on the page, no drawing skills required! (In fact, if you have them, leave them at home).
