Ready to level up your kitchen game? Back to Basics is a hands-on, 6-week cooking series that will give you the confidence, techniques, and inspiration to cook more intuitively, creatively, independently and sustainably.
Whether you're just starting out or want to strengthen your kitchen foundations, this class will help you master essential skills that make everyday cooking easier, smarter, and more delicious!
🔥 What You’ll Learn
Each week, we’ll focus on key techniques that build real kitchen confidence:
Cook with what you have and become and gain more independence
Make the most of seasonal produce
Learn the “why” behind the methods: from sauces to doughs to stock
Pick up smart tips for food storage, safety, and low-waste cooking
And yes, you’ll take home a portion of what we cook each week
You’ll also learn how to repurpose leftovers, build flavour from scraps, and waste less, all while cooking food you actually want to eat.
🌿 Bring Your Own Container
In line with our zero-waste ethos, we kindly ask that you bring your own reusable containers. We won’t be supplying any, so come prepared to take home something tasty!
📅 Weekly Class Schedule
Week 1 | July 3 – Savoury Shortcrust Pastry & Quiche Basics
Master a tasty flaky pastry, blind baking, and seasonal fillings with the best quiche egg-filling.
Week 2 | July 10 – Nourish Bowls & Quick Pickles
Build vibrant, balanced bowls with grains (learn how to cook them too) , quick-pickled veg, and bold dressings.
Week 3 | July 17 – Pizza Night: Cold-Fermented Dough & Toppings
Stretch, top, and fire pizzas in our fantastic Ooni Oven! And serve them at our class catering event! 🎉
Week 4 | July 24 – Fresh Pasta Baby! Tagliatelle & Homemade Pesto
Roll silky egg pasta by hand and blitz up a pesto that’s flexible, fresh, and waste-free. (Gluten-free and vegan options available.)
Week 5 | July 31 – Ultimate Comfort: Cauliflower Gratin, Green Salad & Poached Eggs
A cozy trio: creamy gratin, zingy vinaigrette, and the perfect poached egg.
Week 6 | August 7 – Enhanced Soups & Homemade Vegetable Stock
Roast, blend, and simmer your way to deeper flavour. You’ll never look back!
