Workshop 1 - Ceramics (Hand-built methods)
Time: 10:00am - 12:00pm
Facilitator: Michael Ferrier, Head of Visual Arts

Here you will learn to make a simple ceramic pot using the coiling method of construction. Once you master this technique, it will allow you to make just about anything in clay. You will also add texture and surface decoration to your hand-built vessel. Afterwards your pot will be fired in our kilns and will be available for you to collect at a later date.

Michael has been teaching Art at Pembroke since 2000 and has been making pots for many years, which he has exhibited several times at our art staff exhibitions, held every two years during the South Australian Living Artists (SALA) Festival.

Workshop 2 - Still-Life Drawing
Time: 2:00pm - 4:00pm
Facilitator: Angela Brewerton, Art Teacher

Drawing objects from life is a great way to hone your skills in observation, accuracy, and hand/eye coordination. We always begin our classes with students with some observational still-life drawing. Then you will have the opportunity to create!

Angela’s own practice involves many still-life studies in charcoal and oil paint, which she believes is an excellent way to further develop her understanding of colour, form and composition. She has been teaching art at Pembroke since 1996.
