Backing Onto Bush | Perserverance

This practical half‑day community workshop is for peri‑urban and rural residential landholders who want to better understand fire ecology and how fire can be used to support healthy bushland and safer properties.

Designed as a practical next step in property fire management planning, the workshop is suited to landholders interested in using fire as a management tool, whether you already have a property fire management plan or are just getting started.

What is included in this session:

The session combines theory with hands‑on, on‑ground learning and includes:

• A classroom session covering bushfire safety, preparedness, and fire ecology

• An interactive bushwalk and talk, exploring real‑world examples in the landscape
  
  

What you will learn:

By the end of the workshop, you’ll be able to:

• Assess the health of your local environment

• Identify vegetation types and key habitat

• Understand fuel loads and recognise fire history

• Monitor vegetation and wildlife

• Understand relevant regulations and requirements in your area

Come prepared! Please bring the following:

• Closed‑in shoes

• Long pants and long sleeves

• Reusable water bottle

• Hat and sunscreen

• Rain jacket (if required)
