Women’s Self Defence Fundamentals
The most valuable thing you can possess during a threat to your safety is options. During this 5 part course you will learn skills and no-bullshit techniques for dealing with real-world threats and attacks.
Hosted by Krav Maga instructor Adam Axford, these dynamic, full contact sessions will cover the fundamentals of defending yourself against an attacker who is bigger, stronger or armed.
Week 1
Grabs, Holds & Chokes
This session will cover the correct techniques for escaping the grasp of a larger, stronger attacker whilst standing up. We will learn how to break a grip, defend against chokes and create a safe distance.
Week 2
Weapons
In this session we will learn how to deal with threats and attacks from someone who is armed with a knife, glass or bottle. The techniques covered can be used to control, disarm and create distance from the attacker.
Week 3
Wrestling on the Ground
Dealing with the worst case scenario of being on your back, the correct techniques will give you a fighting chance against a stronger, persistent attacker. We will also cover the safest ways to fall and stand back up.
Week 4
Combat
In this session we will train the correct techniques for using your hands, feet, elbows, knees and head to fight off an attacker.
Week 5
Back to Reality
By simulating real world situations we will recap and apply the techniques and methods taught throughout the previous sessions, providing experiential insight into the importance of awareness, opportunity and technique.
Course will take place in the fitness studio at the back of the Speedos Store near to Joe and the Juice.
