Help Create a Verge Display Garden
Event description
Join us at Barry Britton Reserve in Balga to help transform a small parcel of land into a stunning example of a waterwise verge garden.
The new display garden will help in the creation of a 'green corridor' between Mirrabooka and Erindale Bushlands. These important linkages make it easier for wildlife to move between our parks and bushlands and will be an inspiration for others within the corridor to support urban greening in Balga.
In addition, Jane Chambers from Nature Link Perth will provide practical tips to help transform your own verge garden. As well as planting beautiful WA natives, you'll also have plenty of opportunities to ask questions and learn tips from City staff, neighbours and fellow garden lovers. Afterwards please stay and enjoy a complementary sausage sizzle and refreshments.
A couple of important points to remember:
- Your household can register for this event (we welcome families so everyone is engaged in the verge project!) Please register all names individually so we can track numbers accurately.
- The individual registering on behalf of the group agrees to relay all information to group participants
- Closed-in shoes (sneakers/ boots) must be worn while planting.
- Children may participate in planting, however parental supervision is required at all times.
- Please dress appropriately for the weather, for example long pants, either a broad brim hat/sunscreen or raincoat/pants.
- Please bring your own gardening gloves and protective eye wear (eg sunglasses). A limited supply of equipment is available if required.
