Academy of Artisan Skills Workshop Series 2025
Join acclaimed Textile Artist Cassi-Jo Davis as she teaches the skills and techniques she uses in her art practice to produce a Medieval Inspired Corset Belt to wear as part of your costume to the Balingup Medieval Carnivale.
You will learn how to print found images onto fabric, along with appliqué, embroidery and sewing skills. You will learn how to build up embellishments on upcycled textile remnants, to produce a beautiful piece of wearable art inspired by Medieval art, colour and clothing from the time.
Cassi will supply from her own collection beautiful rich medieval inspired fabrics and textiles, braids and embellishments for you to use to create your corset belt. All sewing accessories will also be provided to use.
If you have any special pieces of textiles, tapestry or embellishments you want to use you are welcome to bring those to incorporate in your creation. You are also welcome to bring your own sewing machine if you have one, although two will be provided to use.
The workshop runs from 9 am to 5pm, with short breaks morning and afternoon and an hour lunch break, please bring your own lunch, or visit one of the wonderful local cafes.
